Omaha Area Sanctuary Network Presents: “Sanctuary Law with Prof. David P. Weber, JD”
Tuesday, January 16

Join Omaha Area Sanctuary Network (OASN) and Prof. David P. Weber, JD for an informative presentation about sanctuary law.

Program starts at 6:15 pm with a brief musical introduction followed by a presentation and Q&A session.

Omaha Area Sanctuary Network, founded in 2017, seeks to continue the ancient tradition of protecting victims of injustice in our sacred spaces, nonviolently resist to ICE attempts to detain and deport undocumented immigrants and advocate for reform existing immigration law. League of Women Voters of Greater Omaha Presents: “Meet the League”

Sign-Making Party for the Omaha Women’s March

Join us at the Urban Abbey to create signs for the Omaha Women's March on Saturday, January 20. Bring your own supplies or use ours! All are welcome. We will walk together to the start of the march route from the Abbey at 12:30 pm.

Deputy Voter Registrar Training with League of Women Voters of Greater Omaha
Tuesday, January 23
6:00 - 7:00 pm
Receive training to register voters in Nebraska as a Deputy Voter Registrar. You are deputized immediately at the end of the one hour training session; good for two years.

Douglas County's Chief Deputy Election Commissioner Chris Carithers will conduct the training that is open to any registered NE voter.

Qualifications to become a Deputy Registrar: 1. Must be a registered voter in the State of Nebraska (you may register to vote at the deputy registrar training session, if not already registered to vote in Nebraska); 2. Must sign up for the deputy registrar training session on or before the business day prior to the training date; and 3. Must attend a deputy registrar training session conducted by the Election Commission.

Grow! Night

Grow! Night is the place to start connecting and/or exploring membership. We will start with dinner in community and then partake in various opportunities for spiritual growth. Dinner will be served from 5:30 - 6:00 pm. Classes begin at 6:00 pm and end at 7:30 pm. Classes offered include UA 101, UA 201, or Faith & Finance. Whether you are an Abbey member, ally, or someone who just wants to learn more about what it means to be part of the Abbey community, you are welcome to Grow! with us.

Chili Cook-off with OMBA

Bring your best prize winning chili to the community table! Veggie, Vegan and Very Meaty all welcome at this table.

$3 dollars to enter your dish and $3 to judge (taste). All money raised supports the Old Market Business & Resident Association (OMBA)’s work to create a dynamic community in downtown Omaha.

Pre-registration encouraged but not required. Walk-ins welcome!

Ash Wednesday

Join us in worship to begin the season of lent in reflection and community. Ashes will be given both at noon and 7:00 pm in a service of worship. The noon service will last a half-hour to welcome those joining us on their lunch hour. The evening service will last around one hour.

Wesley Pub: “Sex in the City of God: Beyond Abstinence Only”

Join us to explore the intersection of faith and sex in a safe space for questions and diverse voices.

Wesley Pub is for everyone, Christians, non-Christians and people annoyed by by Christians. Bring some beer or a bottle of wine to share. Everyone is welcome, but you must be 21 to partake responsibly.
