Blessing of the Backpacks

Grow! Night (Dinner followed by opportunities to grow)

Join us for Grow! Night. We will start with a soup supper in community and then partake in various opportunities for spiritual growth. Dinner will be served from 5:30-6:30. Classes begin at 6:00 and end at 8:30. Classes offered include UA 101, UA 201, and Mental Health 101. Whether you are an Abbey member, ally, or someone who just wants to learn more about what it means to be part of the Abbey community, you are welcome to Grow! with us.

Wesley Pub: “Interfaithing 101: Talking with Ourselves and One Another About Spiritual Identity and Experience” with Beth Katz

Beth Katz is a social entrepreneur and consultant with nearly two decades of experience advancing human rights, diversity, and inclusion. She founded and for ten years served as the executive director of Project Interfaith, a non-profit organization whose mission was to create understanding, respect, and relationships among people of all faiths, beliefs, and cultures. Through her work, she has collaborated with a variety of communities and institutions locally and across the globe including the American Academy of Religion, the Obama administration, and the UN Alliance of Civilizations. Beth also has served as an adjunct professor at Creighton University’s Heider College of Business and at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in the College of Education and in the Political Science Department. As an adjunct professor, she has developed and taught courses on the intersection of religion and business, religion and religious diversity in the public schools, and international conflict transformation. She holds a Master of Public Policy and a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan and has a Bachelor of Science in Education from Creighton University. She currently serves on Amnesty International's Military, Security and Police Transfers Co-Group and on the advisory board for World Faith.

Help keep the Old Market clean! Join the Urban Abbey to clean up the Gene Leahy Mall and hand out water bottles to families playing in the park.

NAMI Nebraska Connection Support Group
Starts Monday, September 11 (Meets weekly for 8 weeks through Monday, October 30)

This meeting is for those living with a mental health challenge. It offers support, understanding, and the insight of lived experience from those pursuing their own recovery. Contact 402-345-8101 with any questions.

Join us for Spooky Science with 4-H. Take a walk for free books in both Spanish and English on the Book Bus. Collect Candy from the Old Market Business Association. Wear a costume and stay for worship at 5:30.

All are welcome to come and reflect on and name the struggle of the season when joy about babies and birth seems mandatory, but we are carrying loss and hurt in our hearts.
